What is HIV?
HIV is a virus that cannot be seen with the naked eyes, which weakens one’s body immunity and causes AIDS. Once the virus enters into a human body it starts to multiply and weakens the immune system. Once the immunity is low a person suffers from opportunistic diseases.
Being HIV positive does not mean you have AIDS and it is not the end of life. A person can be HIV positive and still have a long and healthier life. But this can only happen when a person is adhering to the anti-retroviral treatment and taking medication at all times. This helps to boost the body’s immunity.
HIV can be contracted if there is blood contact with an HIV positive person, this can be through unprotected sex person with bruises without protective wear such as gloves, handling and sharing of piercing objects such as razor blades among others.
It is hard to tell if a person is HIV positive by just looking at them. Only HIV testing can reveal an individuals’ HIV status.
It is therefore important to avoid the virus by among other indulging going for HIV testing services and using a condom when having sex.
